Vietnamese Teen Won Singapore International Chopin Piano Tournament
Hoang Pham Tra Mi, a 13 year-old Vietnamese that hails from the Vietnam National Academy for Music, has won the '14 Year Old or Under' category at the Sinapore International Chopin Piano Tournament that ended last Sunday. She performed Ballades No 1 and Etudes No 5. and guess what? She had previously won two competitions at South Korea and Russia, and this is her biggest achievement yet.

What is It?

The competition was to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Chopin's birth, organized for the first time by the Chopin Society (Singapore) and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Competitors were required to play Chopin's pieces for a fixed period according to their age.

This competition has attracted 140 candidates from 15 countries such as China, Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore itself.
