Review: Rohayu Recipe at Star City
Yesterday I decided to try some new places to eat at Star City (previously known as Asia City Complex). I know there were loads of new restaurants and eateries to try at since the newly-built Star City took it's place.

Problem is, I couldn't find the route to the new building! >.< So I ended up at the ground floor open area and found Rohayu Recipe. Turns out it's another branch from the Rohayu Restaurant at Sembulan! Nice...it's halal and I saw sofas! xD

The Place

This is the interior of the restaurant. Pretty nice eyh? They sell pre-cooked food like fired mee hun, fried rice, eggs, chicken with black sauce and such. They have 2 types of seatings, one was the sofa with orange cushions against the transparent glass wall and others are typical square-ish tables and chairs.

They set aside an area to place a small bakery rack to display buns and pastries. This place doesn't sell 'mamak' food, the main meals are their chicken rice in several types and I saw one with blackpepper. Snacks and finger foods like french fries are available as well.

The Food
I had Steamed Chicken Rice with hot milo, and the chicken didn't look like steamed. It doesn't have any taste to it, don't know why, seeing that the chicken pieces were flooded with the soy sauce. Seriously, not taste at all, I was really puzzled by it till now.

I like how they serve the food and that they serve the condiments with a basket filled with tissues and forks and spoons. The salty soy sauce was enough to make my meal appetizing again. =) It was so easy, just tilt the container and out came the sauce!

Wana tell you something else- they have lekor too! xD Crunchy but it tasted more of flour than real fish. 90% of it.

The Taste

Seriously, the chicken rice that I had was bland. Like, totally bland, worse than my mom's fried fish at home. xD The soup, it was healthy. Super healthy, suited my taste. But I fear most people will think the soup needs more salt to it. Lekor wasn't tasty, like I said, so I won't order it again. Hot milo was okay, 'ngam' with my taste- less 'susu junjung'.

Maybe these are why the place wasn't so packed on a Sunday afternoon?

Service

They serve the food real fast! I mean, faster than I expected them to! I think it took them like, 5 minutes only. The bad thing was that the food was cold instead of hot. Oh and you have to go to the counter to order and directly pay straightaway.

The Price

Steamed Chicken Rice: RM4.50
Hot Milo: RM2 (price stays the same for cold milo too. Talk about unfair pricing!)
A plate of lekor: RM3.50
Cold Neslo (Ping): RM2.50 (cheaper than other people would charge)

Del Says...

I think this place is great for those who are in tight budget for the month or just needs a place to 'lepak' and meet up friends or surf the net - yes, they have wifi there! If you're looking for delicious, a different variety of food, this isn't the place for you- run as far as you can. Price is cheap and it's located strategically at the roadside- customers can just park and step out right at the entrance.

Shine on,
Del
