I watched Gulliver's Travels (2010) at 1 B on Christmas Day. xD Do you know that this movie
Gulliver's Travels (2010) Sypnosis
In a modern, 3 D family comedy take on the classic tale, Jack Black (star of 'Kung Fu Panda' and 'School of Rock') is Lemuel Gulliver, a lowly malroom clerk at a New York newspaper.
After Gulliver bluffs his way into an assignment writing about the Bermuda Triangle, he goes there only to be transported to an undiscovered land, Liliput. In this fantastic new world, Gulliver is, at last, a bigger-than-life-figure -- in size and ego - especially after he starts telling tales, taking credit for his world's greatest inventions, and placing himself at the center of its most historic events. Gulliver's position is enhanced even further when he leads his new friends in a daring battle against their longtime enemies.

But when Gulliver loses it all and puts the Liliputians in peril, he must find a way to undo the damage. Ultimately, Gulliver becomes a true giant among men only when he learns that it's how big you are on the inside that counts.

Del Says...
This movie has a nice, steady plot. It was understandable and not too hard to figure out, even for kids. I was disappointed that I didn't find the level of excitement that I anticipated before watching the movie. 'School of Rock' is better than this movie. If Jack Black's not in it, I doubt if anybody would laugh in the theatre.
He surely was funny, yes, I did laugh a couple of times, but not as funny as 'School of Rock', or maybe even 'Kung Fu Panda'. Sometimes I find myself laughing just because for the sake of being nice.

This movie was lack of something interesting, like Tron the Legacy, like maybe the people of Lilliput has tails or their mouths transform bigger when they eat. You know, like, hey- it's a fantasy land, a dreamland, it's the land where you can be creative and yes, there were stuff like Jack Black having the body of Wolverine (should I say Hugh Jackman?) from X-Men, Michael Jackson, the funny thing about putting out the fire from the castle with his pee, fighting the evil robot..but it was all Lemuel. What about the funny, interesting points about Lilliputians? Nada. Nothing.
Emily Blunt sure was funny- for 5 seconds when she met Lemuel. And that was it. And Horatio, he was funny when he was trying to get the princess to like him back. That was it. Billy? Let's not go there- he wasn't standing out. I don't even remember him in his role now. I have a feeling that the producer, scriptwriter- whoever, just make the movie without having a meeting on how to make it more interesting, more enticing. What a waste of money.
What I Love About this Movie
♥ Jack Black's starring in it
♥ Emily Blunt's in it, tho disappointed with her as well.
♥ The whole idea of sailing to the Bermuda Triangle and got lost to an unknown place with tiny civilizations.
♥ Scene where Lemuel fought the robot and the 'Peace Song'.
Who Would Love This?
Everybody would, but I think children will be more excited watching the movie than grown ups. So this would be in my 'Family' movie category list.
Ticket Price
RM10 per person at 1 Borneo Hypermall, Kota Kinabalu, Sunday.
Rating
6.5/10 and I won't recommend this to people and I won't suggest you to watch it in 3 D either- not worth it.
